Oxford University sought technical advice and a UK supplier for an optical zoom system to facilitate their inspection processes across a wide range of scales. The engineering department required configuration flexibility and expert guidance to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
The project demanded a multipurpose optical system capable of visualizing samples ranging from tens of microns to approximately 5mm, with minimal depth of field and high-resolution optics from Mitutoyo. Brightfield illumination and retrofit compatibility were essential, along with mounting hardware for seamless integration.
Familiar with the Navitar 12x Zoom System, the client recognized its applicability but required precise configuration to meet their diverse scale requirements. The Navitar Ultra zoom module 1-50502 was selected for its compatibility with Mitutoyo infinity objective lenses, ensuring high resolution imaging at the micron level. Additionally, the integration of the Navitar 1x conversion lens 2-50145 allowed for seamless transition to standard zoom functionality, enabling coverage of larger scales without the need for additional modules.
